Job Description |
Tasks and responsibilities
• Undertake overall responsibility for the smooth implementation of the project’s activities in accordance with the project document and work plan in consultation and coordination with FAO country office programme team, RAP technical team/ LTO, and MOFE focal point of the project.
• Undertake responsibility for the preparation and revision of the annual work plan and procurement plan and get approval from LTO on both plans and specifications.
• Identify landslide hazard areas, prepare landslide susceptibility mapping, establish landslide Early Warning System at local level in consultation with technical experts.
• Design and implement activities for landslide stabilisation using bio-engineering and low-cost structural measures through a community-based disaster risk management approach and ensure the quality of works.
• Prepare upstream and downstream management package of interventions to enhance community resilience through sustainable natural resource management, crop diversification, and improved livelihoods at prioritised sub-watershed areas.
• Build capacity of the stakeholders on landslide preparedness, mitigation technologies and practices for Landslide protection and EWS (prepare management protocol, organize trainings and educational programmes, prepare awareness materials, develop policy and plans on DRR/M, and advocate to mainstream the project results into the local programme and budget)
• Document lesson learned (Process documentation, landslide EWS operation and maintenance guidelines, Documentation of lessons learned and develop the key highlights of the successful activities and disseminate for the wider audience on the experiences of the program, organize sharing programme between federal, provincial and local government for the capacity building and scaling up the project in other similar landslide risk areas)
• Participate in technical meetings related to mitigation, recovery and rehabilitation of earthquake affected areas, preferably in agriculture, watershed management sectors.
• Facilitate Government and/or donor missions to the project sites /areas, as required.
• Ensure the support of input/assets, services, and capacity buildings to the beneficiaries in coordination with government counterparts and project thematic experts for planning and implementation.

CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING
Minimum Requirements
• National of Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal
• Bachelor’s degree in forestry or disaster risk management
• At least five years of post-baccalaureate proven work experience in DRR, landslide mitigation, soil conservation subjects.
• Working knowledge of English and Nepali

• Ability to plan, organize, and administer workshops and training sessions

• Demonstrated practical and relevant experience with landslide mitigation and DRR/M
• Ability to manage and work with a multidisciplinary and multicultural team
• Proven ability to network sensitively, cooperatively, and productively with multiple stakeholders
• High degree of team ethics, well-organized, results-focused and dynamic personality
• Proficiency in English and Nepali language (both spoken and written) with good communication skills
• Previous experience working with UN agencies is an asset
